It is official. Kevin Reed, a catastrophic, traumatic brain injury survivor, drummer, and ThunderEcho drum shop owner now enjoys the title of "inventor."   His Trash Kat™ drum has been granted Patent Number 7547836 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  Our ever-increasing roster of elite drummers endorse the Kat's fresh, exciting sound and urban appeal.  Kevin is focusing on the shell's patented vertical corrugation -thought to be the sonic keystone - in developing prototypes to expand the Trash Kat line of drums.  He also continues to hone in on the ability portion of his disability.

This Trash Kat frequency analysis (click to enlarge) depicts a complex, bi-modal (two distinct peaks) distribution of sound, as compared to a simpler mapping of a major competitor's sound (below).

Tests were conducted in a sound studio utilizing an Earthworks TC30k microphone placed 65" horizontal from each drum and 73" off the floor.
